Library MakeoverOn Friday, Sept. 25, 2010 students, families and staff from Cowell Elementary, along with The Heart of America foundation and Target Volunteers, celebrated the unveiling of its newly renovated library.
As part of the Target Volunteers School Library Makeover program, Cowell elementary received a complete transformation, including 2,000 new books, technology, paint, lighting, carpet, shelving, customized wall art and murals, as well as reading corners-books to add to their own at-home reading collection.
More than 800 students, school staff, community members and volunteers attended the makeover to celebrate the much-needed addition of new resources.
We are honored to have been chosen for this amazing program. Our students are thrilled to have such a beautiful learning space, new technology and thousands of new books that they truly deserve.

Awards were given to exemplary students.
Five free books per family and some extra for younger siblings.
Everyone celebrated the new library with many gifts and fun activities.
Over 200 Target employees volunteered to assist teachers during the celebration. It was a fantastic day!
